Description
Delicious mini bacon bomb sticks, perfect as finger food for gatherings or cozy evenings.
Ingredients
- 500 g puff pastry or yeast dough (rolled out)
- 250 g cheese, grated (e.g., Cheddar or Gouda)
- 200 g bacon (halal)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- Optional: finely chopped parsley or chives
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200 °C (fan: 180 °C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut the bacon into small strips and fry briefly until it starts to crisp. Drain on paper towels.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread a thin layer of mustard on it.
- Sprinkle onion, grated cheese, and pre-cooked bacon evenly over the dough. Drizzle with maple syrup, if desired.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut it into slices about 2–3 cm thick.
- Shape each slice into a stick and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush each stick with the beaten egg.
- Bake the mini bacon bomb sticks for 15–20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Allow to cool slightly on a rack and garnish with chopped herbs, if desired.
Notes
For a fluffier dough, use yeast dough; for quicker preparation, use puff pastry.
