Description

Delicious mini bacon bomb sticks, perfect as finger food for gatherings or cozy evenings.


Ingredients

  • 500 g puff pastry or yeast dough (rolled out)
  • 250 g cheese, grated (e.g., Cheddar or Gouda)
  • 200 g bacon (halal)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • Optional: finely chopped parsley or chives


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (fan: 180 °C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Cut the bacon into small strips and fry briefly until it starts to crisp. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread a thin layer of mustard on it.
  5. Sprinkle onion, grated cheese, and pre-cooked bacon evenly over the dough. Drizzle with maple syrup, if desired.
  6. Roll the dough tightly and cut it into slices about 2–3 cm thick.
  7. Shape each slice into a stick and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Brush each stick with the beaten egg.
  9. Bake the mini bacon bomb sticks for 15–20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Allow to cool slightly on a rack and garnish with chopped herbs, if desired.

Notes

For a fluffier dough, use yeast dough; for quicker preparation, use puff pastry.
