Description

A delicious grilled cheese sandwich featuring fresh blueberries and creamy cheese, perfect for cozy autumn days.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of crusty sourdough or country bread
  • 120150 g mild cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella), shredded
  • 150 g fresh or thawed blueberries
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 tsp lemon zest (optional)
  • A pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the blueberries. In a small bowl, gently mix with honey and lemon zest.
  2. Spread the cream cheese evenly on two slices of bread.
  3. On the cream cheese-covered slices, add half of the shredded cheese.
  4. Distribute the blueberry mixture on top, being careful not to overfill.
  5. Top with the remaining cheese and the second slices of bread, pressing down lightly.
  6. Melt the butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  7. Place the sandwiches in the pan and cook for 3–4 minutes until golden brown. Carefully flip and cook for an additional 3–4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.
  8. Let the sandwiches rest briefly before serving to prevent the blueberries from spilling out.

Notes

Use bread with a sturdy crumb to hold the filling better and avoid sogginess. Cook on medium heat to melt the cheese evenly without burning the bread.
